2020 Ultimate Qualifier Finale to Feature Changes Due to Covid-19

In a year where most every event has been cancelled, postponed, etc. for our players ... it was only a matter of time before a decision would have to be made regarding our annual Ultimate Qualifier Finale. After a ton of thought and weighing the options, our 2020 Ultimate Qualifier Finale will continue as scheduled on Saturday February 6th, 2021 ... however it will feature a total rework of its format.

First of all, the payouts. Due to the pandemic's complete shutdown of our bars, leagues, tournaments, etc. we are far behind our participation mark to pay out what we usually pay out. It appears that we have about 60% of our usual revenue this year compared to previous years. Due to this, the payouts for this year's Finale will reflect that as well and payouts will be adjusted accordingly.

Along with payouts being decreased, we figured we would alter the format of the event as well. Since the payouts weren't as large, we decided to drop the Round Robin morning event and make it a normal race to 3, double elimination style tournament. This will not only significantly decrease the amount of time it will take to complete the event. Due to other Covid restrictions, such as gathering sizes, etc. we've also decided to transform this year's event into a Remote EQ Singles tournament.

We know that this is unfortunate news, but each year our payouts are based upon a projected amount of participation/revenue and with not only the 4 month shutdown, but followed drop in participation for Summer/Fall leagues ... there just wasn't the money available for our usual payouts. We are hoping that 2021 will bring us back to where we were before the pandemic and our payouts can return to their normal spot or at least close to it.

The start time for the Finale event will be staggered, with the Level 3 & 4 fields shooting at 1pm sharp and Level 1 & 2 fiels

There will 4 divisions made up from the Final Top 40 players based upon their overall averages (league + tourney) over the series.

New payouts for 2020 Finale per level:
$1,160.00 per level

1st -    $460.00
2nd -    $290.00
3rd -    $175.00
4th -    $115.00
5th/6th - $50.00
7th/8th - $25.00
9th/10th - $10.00

Finale will be Race to 3 (01/CR/CR/01/CR) ... Double Elimination & feature staggered start times for levels. Levels 3 & 4 will shoot at 1pm sharp & Levels 1 & 2 will shoot at 2pm sharp. There will be NO substitutes for this year's event ... players MUST notify prior to 2/1/21 that you intend to participate & what location you will be playing out of or you will NOT be included in the brackets. Bars will have a maximum of 2 players registered per board so don't procrastinate or you may lose out on your usual home bar. Any moneys not paid out, the result of players not participating, will be rolled over to the 2021 UQ prize pot.
