The 14th annual Brodersen's Night Before Thanksgiving Luck of the Draw Dart tournament was a great success. With just under 100 players from numerous towns/cities across the region coming together to play this year it once again proved why it is considered by many as one of their favorite events of the year.
Although there were a few amazing games thrown, including the eventual tournament champions, Wes Babcock & Ryan Evans throwing a 7.15 mpr game, the general consensus was that it was once again the play of the youth players that stole the show. Our youth involvement continues to grow and we couldn't be more proud of the representatives that we have coming out to play in the adult tournaments that would make most youth players too nervous to even sign up. Led by 13 year old Chance Taylor from Plattsmouth, Nebraska, who finished in 4th place in the event with his partner Mark Goodrich from Eagle, the youth revolution was also driven last night by the play of Dallas Winters (Plattsmouth), Kole Gray (Plattsmouth), Trent Record (Plattsmouth) and Jeff Martens (Fremont). With the continued evolution of our youth players, we hope that more of our area youth take an interest in the sport of darts over the next few months and years. We would like to thank Plattsmouth VFW for providing the venue, drinks & food specials and for adding money to the prize fund. We would like to thank Greater Omaha Leagues & Central Distributing for the beautiful Galaxy 3 dartboards to play the event on...a few player had never even played on a Galaxy 3 dartboard before. We would also like to thank the Brodersen family for sharing their love for the sport of darts by starting this event years ago and continuing a wonderful tradition year in and out...we look forward to many, many more. On Wednesday November 26th, 2014 another installment of Cass County's longest running annual dart tournament will be going down. In what has become many dart players favorite event, the Brodersen's Night Before Thanksgiving Luck of the Draw Dart Tournament has been a steady attraction for dart enthusiasts and their friends and family.
The event is open to the public, anyone and everyone is encouraged to participate regardless of experience, skill level, league affiliation, etc. The tournament was started in 2000 by Dan Brodersen Sr. and his family as a way to get more people involved in the sport. He also used this annual event to have a get-together with friends and family that he didn't usually get to share his love of the game with. Over the years, one group of players have been more successful at this tournament than any other. A group of Brodersen's co-workers that came down from Omaha to have a fun night out with new people. For the first 7-8 years of the event, the members of that group always seemed to find a way to finish in the Top 3...especially Ike Kyles, who has won the event on multiple occasions. This event has lasted through good and bad times and has always seen a good turnout of players looking to have a good time before the long holiday weekend. With massive league growth occurring around the area, we hope that this year is no different. Other than having a great time with great people, this event has evolved into a high stakes event for those participating in Greater Omaha Leagues' Ultimate Qualifier Series. The event is worth Triple qualifier points and will have a drastic effect on the final Top 40, which decides who gets the opportunity to play for over $2,000.00 in prize money in mid-December. On top of that, not only is this the final point-earning event for the 2014 series, it is also the first point-earning event of the 2015 Ultimate Qualifier Series...so it has double the value to participating players. Players who participate in this event not only have the opportunity to finish 2014 strong, but get an early jump on the competition in 2015. As always the event will be held at the Plattsmouth VFW in downtown Plattsmouth, Nebraska. Please remember to invite all of your friends and family who may enjoy playing darts, as this is an event enjoyed by all. Signup 6:30pm, Shoot 7pm $5/entry + $150.00 Added There will also be a 50/50 raffle at the event, so someone will be winning some cash outside of the dart tournament as well. |
