• DRTs will earn player points for all players listed on the All Star rank list, and for all players listed on a Vendor's TOC Standings page – equal in value to a normal/similar league match at that time with one exception. Note, I am providing the following information in hopes of avoiding any misunderstandings about what we do here at the PPD – including these new exciting offerings described herein.
Please know our budgeting for any individual product we provide comes from all revenue sources within the PPD program!
• Meaning, we do not always spend the same in one area as that area may costs.
• We use excess income from one area to subsidize others, but never from any one type of player to another.
• Please do not believe that we divert revenue from one type of player to another. I’ve heard or seen this misrepresentation in the past. It is simply not true! Every skill level player has opportunities within our various PPD offerings. And yes, we do have offerings that require higher skills for eligibility – which must always be the case when promoting a sport and to discourage sandbagging and cheating.
• We have several sources of revenue today - in comparison to PPD’s 2011 inception.
• We continue to pay back all that we bring in - to promote the sport of soft-tip darts in North America. In fact, most year’s we’ve spent more than we take in from all sources – then catch up from the growth we’ve experienced year-over-year since our inception.
• We use our total budget to promote features that we believe will help achieve our original and most fundamental goals for the PPD, which have remained constant since inception. Those goals are:
1. To promote this game by providing the greatest possible prizes and opportunities to the most avid darts players in North America and regardless of skill level. This means we must ever-seek to achieve our second goal which is,
2. To KILL SANBAGGING and cheating in all its forms - including the perception of sandbagging which is the greater of the two in reality. Notably, we believe we have accomplished this goal in PPD tournament play and we are about to in PPD league play too,
3. To develop a brand/value, like franchise value, for each of our supporting PPD partners. We desire the PPD brand to provide value , enhance return on investment for both, equipment and, in some cases, prize money that PPD Partners spend with us - to help add to TOC prize money too.
I’ve included this last information to help shed some light on why we do what we do and how we do some of what we do (financially) to remind those who might lose sight or may not have known some of this.
In closing, be aware: For easiest entry and set up, you will want to have a hot button. If you do not have a hot button, you will still be able to play DRTs. Players in the know will be best served by having a hot button before DRTs arrive. If you do not have a hot button - see your vendor ASAP or order one at a dart machine near you - NOW! Stay tuned. 3 weeks from now, DRTs will go live. These details are shared to help inform you of the general package planned as of 12/28/18. Obviously some parts of this package are subject to change. 2019 is going to see a lot of new opportunities for every level of player here at the PPD!
