It's that time again to start making plans to go to Grand Island, Nebraska to attend the 2016 Heartland Dart Championships. This annual event continues to grow year after year and this year is expected to be no different. Mid Nebraska Coin and tournament director Bert Sundberg have made a couple changes to this year's events including one that is gaining attention, the Sunday Youth Singles event. With the steady increase of Junior players, it was only natural that they would consider adding an event for that group. What a perfect time, while mom and dad may be playing the Mixed Doubles event, the youth players can compete in a singles tournament.
Each year a group of Greater Omaha players make the trip for the Heartland Dart Championships and always return with amazing stories. Coaches for the Greater Omaha Leagues' Wolfpack Junior National team have said that several of their Junior players will be making the trip out to get the competition and experience before the NDA Junior tournament in Minnesota in June. Greater Omaha League players who make the trip for the Heartland Dart Championships also enjoy earning Ultimate Qualifier points for each event they compete in. That means this tournament weekend could end up being a monstrously large point-earning weekend for many. Greater Omaha players who placed at last year's event were: Women's Singles A Division: 2nd Place - Courtney Ball Women's Singles B Division: 1st Place - Anne McKinney 2nd Place - Terril Kennedy Men's Singles A Division: 3rd Place - Wes Babcock Men's Singles B Division: 3rd Place - Aaron Halagarda Men's Singles C Division: 2nd Place - Rodney Ketchum Jr. Doubles A Division: 2nd Place - Ryan Evans & Matt Cudaback Doubles C Division: 3rd Place - Rodney Ketchum Jr. & Courtney Ball Mixed Trips B Division: Heartland Champions - Chance Taylor, Julie Garrean & Ryan Munhall Let's see who can place in this year's event...
